These paintings are amazing. The textures, the light, the reality! It makes me feel that I can enter another world.

Sono d’accordo. Si tratta di dipinti tecnicamente perfetti, ed anche gradevoli alla vista. Il primo, “Confidantes”, ricorda un quadro del pittore fiammingo Van Eyck, intitolato “Ritratto dei coniugi Arnolfini”, e conservato alla National Gallery di Londra.
Nel particolare dello specchio tondo, se lo guardiamo attentamente, si potrà notare, in lontananza, l’immagine riflessa dell’artista mentre dipinge la scena al cavalletto. Si tratta di un piccolissimo particolare, che a prima vista non tutti possono notare.
Forse mi sbaglierò, ma credo che l’artista Thomson abbia proprio voluto ritrarsi in quello specchietto, come fece a suo tempo (1434), il grande maestro Van Eyck.
