The “Freake-Gibbs” Painter (17th century)

Posted by M.R.N. on September 26, 2009

The real identity of the artist is unknown. The term “Freake-Gibbs” painter is used because this work is thought to be painted by the same artist who painted portraits of members of the Freake and Gibbs families of Boston during the same period (1670-1680).
