    Your site is so wonderful! I’ve never seen most of them even after a few years of art history! I’m just curious about two things. First off: are these images public domain? And secondly, is there any way of obtaining a higher resolution image?

      Thanks, that’s kind of you. Generally copyrights prior to 1923 have expired, so the images enter the public domain. With regard to the living artists all paintings copyrights belong to them, obviously. Since the blog does not have unlimited space I have to reduce the resolution of the pictures.
