    He was a bit of a narcissist, as I would surmise from his self-portrait, seeing the great care that he evidently took in painting his own face. It’s the only aspect of the work that clearly stands out (“zombie dog” is a distant second).

    He was also a very honest man. I’m guessing THAT from his portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Kneeland. My gosh.
