One Response to “Robert Vickrey (1926 – 2001)”

  1. Vickrey published two important books on egg tempera technique with good advice on that exacting, difficult discipline.Egg tempera encourages precision, forethought and is dividing the process of painting into separate tasks, opposite to “alla prima”.
It is a pity that Vickrey had no sense of color and relied too heavily on almost oppressive geometries, designs that make his paintings impersonal, overburdened with rhetoric forms like empty hallways.
