There is a difference ,at times clear and sometimes attenuated between Realism and Naturalism.Nancy Depew,I believe is a naturalist painter and of superlative quality.Corot,Courbet of Daubigny were realists – which means that upon closer look their paintings consist of artful daubs and dabs of paint and the eyes of the viewer have to squint to put all the fragments into cohesive image.Naturalistic painting is cohesive at all distances and has all brushwork hidden and transformed into the flesh of the image.
    Another quality which I admire is restrain of her images.However alluring they are,the landscapes are not sentimental-they are beautiful in the same way that Nature is beautiful.The nudes have the same noble restrain
