Great artist in the best academic 19th century tradition. Is he connected with the Hudson River School?

A.H.Ritchie was a prominent engraver specialised in mezzotints. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, he studied under William Allan (a well-known Scottish historical painter), before moving to New York where he established a succesful workshop. Among his most representative work there are “Washington and His Generals” (after D. Huntington) and a George Washington portrait (after P. F. Rothermel)
”Lady Washington’s Reception” shows the most important people of the founding generation of American, all gathered in one location. Mrs. Washington is on the left side on a riser, with Alexander Hamilton, John Adams and John Jay to the left. The 64 people identified in this painting include, among the others, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Morris, John Hancock, General Knox…
Ritchie engraved a significant print after the painting by Daniel Huntington. There were a number of editions of this print published between 1865 and 1875 by Emil Seitz and James Tyroler.

How large is your engraving? Any intentions on selling? I have been looking to get Lady Washington’s Reception for my wife as a gift.

I have one but it’s starting to rip on both side and want to sell it soon so someone can frame it and save it because it’s beautiful. I’m asking $500. I’ve seen them selling for $750 to $900.00 online. Let me know at my email address gndvega@yahoo.com

Are you still looking for this print? I have a beautiful color version in its original frame. 42 x 29 framed. A-one condition. Very small chip in lower right edge of frame.
